Performance Excellence at the City of Mesa
We define performance excellence as "when an organization has reached a place in which it excels at fulfilling its mission and realizing its vision.”
The Performance Excellence Team provides management and analytic consulting services to all City departments to help them effectively use performance improvement tools and best practices to achieve their desired outcomes and public purpose. The PEX Team focuses its services in three areas:

Performance Management Assisting departments with systematic approach to measure, analyze, and report on performance of the services provided by the City of Mesa. |
Continuous Improvement Helping departments continuously improve products, services, or processes using methodologies of Lean, process mapping, and behavioral insights. These efforts can seek “incremental” improvement over time or “breakthrough improvement all at once.” |
Data Analytics Using existing City data sources to generate new insights into city services and the needs they serve, and helping departments work smarter by integrating objective evidence with decision making processes. |

Valley Benchmark Cities
The City of Mesa participates in the Valley Benchmark Cities Consortium, a collaborative of 11 cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area, created to share and compare information for the purpose of improving local government performance. The group produces an annual benchmark report.
